Which Exercise to Avoid if you are Dealing With Low Back Pain

Yesterday we discussed the importance of keeping active when you are dealing with low back pain. Today we are going to go over some exercises that should be avoided. When you are already dealing with back pain, you don't want to cause anymore damage.

*If you have low back pain you want to avoid any exercise that requires you to raise both legs while lying on your back.

*Avoid lifting heavy weights above your waist. This would include bicep curls.

*Avoid sit ups with your legs bent, or avoid doing curl ups.

*Avoid doing toe touches from a standing position. This can put stress on the lower back and make your pain worse.

*Always make sure you allow your muscles enough time to warm up before exercising. A muscle that is warm is going to be more flexible. This will reduce the chance of injury. Also don't overdo it. If you do too much exercise right off the bat you will strain your back.

You need to be active when dealing with low back pain, but you need to do exercises that will help with your pain. You don't want to do anything that is going to cause you more pain. Consult your chiropractor for tips on the right exercises for you.
